One-way video screening and live video interviewing solve different problems. Here's the real distinction.
"Video recruitment" covers two genuinely different tools that get marketed similarly.
Candidates record responses to preset questions on their own time, which recruiters review later. Useful for high-volume early-stage screening where scheduling live calls for every applicant isn't realistic. The tradeoff: it adds friction for candidates and can depress completion rates if overused or poorly explained up front.
Essentially a video-calling layer purpose-built for interviews — scheduling integration, structured scorecards, recording/playback for hiring panels who couldn't attend live. The value here is mostly about structure and record-keeping, not the video technology itself (most teams already have a general video tool).
